It is a beautiful venue with lots of various rooms to hire. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. The Cafe is good too with great service. I also got a room to pray without pre-arrangements. Also love to visit Ludlow again.
Inexpensive accommodation & cozy place + parking & central.
I am really surprised by the reviews for this place, and can only assume I had a unique experience but I am more likely to feel that people are forgiving because of the price. I was booked in for 3 nights. I arrived on a Sunday 15 minutes early to the time I said I would arrive on the booking (you are only able to pick select arrival time to the hour so unsurprising). I had driven for 3 hours so I wasn't able to precisely predict the time. I had to ring up a mobile as the place was all dark and closed up. That's fine, but the person on the other end snapped at me that I was early. Not really a warm welcome. Anyway I settled in. On that first night I was the only person in a closed, dark, locked up building. I felt scared and unsafe. I knew prior that this was "basic" with no TV etc (there is a rather odd TV room) which I was fine with, but it was much more basic that your standard budget hotel. The walls were scuffed and cracked, towels were basically hand towels and beds old and uncomfortable. Fair to say it appeared clean, but everything about the room and its contents were very tired. There was free wifi, but for me it was intermittent in quality. Most irritatingly there was no clear surfaces that I could put my laptop on (never mind a drink). So I couldn't do any business on my business trip. The second day there was no one in the office when I left at 8.10am. The on-site cafe wasn't open (meant to open at 8am). When I returned at 4.45pm there was no one in the office. So I had no opportunity to speak to anyone. I saw no one else in the building for 2 nights. My room had been entered, but not cleaned or my coffee/tea refilled. I felt unsafe, lonely and uncomfortable so the third day I posted my key (no-one around again) and booked into the local Travelodge. The advantages are no doubt the cost and the free parking (although Ludlow seems to have excessive parking to me). However the local Travelodge is the same price but significantly more comfortable, you will get a king size bed, normal sized towels and a TV. You probably wouldn't walk into Ludlow from the Travelodge, with this place you are a close walk to the centre. But as I say, Ludlow has plenty of parking, and is not a big place. Now I know the response to this will say "we're a charity...". I don't care. Your offering a service that people are paying for, and you're not up to scratch with the sector standard of a budget hotel. You need to plan investment and look to improve. Painting walls doesn't cost much. Customer service certainly doesn't! I still paid 50-60 per night, where does that money go?? If your staff are volunteers (I don't know?) then you need to ask yourself if you can run a business with this system. This is the first time I have ever left a hotel, a paid for room vacant for a night. I have stayed in some horrible places, but I felt extremely uncomfortable here, and I would strongly recommend people look elsewhere, if you have to pay more or walk further, trust me its worth it.
Lovely place to stay, easy walk to Town centre. Good cafe downstairs.
Beautiful building, very clean and well kept. I will definitely be coming back.
